<span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Reflecting on the Brussels NATO Summit on 25 May 2017, where the newly-elected US President Donald Trump met NATO leaders and other EU leaders, the Knowledge Centre will hold an event on the future of the Transatlantic Relations, with a special focus on Central European countries that joined the alliance in 1999 and 2004.<br>
<br>
Since we live in a complex, globally interwoven world, it is important to emphasise that maintaining peace and stability on both sides of the Atlantic is the primary aim of both the United States and the European Union. The present-day reality is that our relatively stable security community, our similar set of democratic values, and the mutual trust based on our common history are challenged every day by extremely diverse cross-border threats and attacks. The current world order and the sophisticated system of law and security mechanism are in danger, and thus the utmost objective of our transatlantic community is to use all available means to sustain it.<br>
<br>
Because peace and security cannot only be secured by hard power — NATO and its allies, — the event will also focus on the future advancement of political relationship and the future of diplomacy in order to offer an in-depth look at the present and future of transatlantic relations. Despite the fact that the Transatlantic Alliance is not the same as it was at the time of NATO enlargement, the commitment of the Central European countries towards Transatlanticism is stronger than ever. This conference aims to offer a platform to discuss how the new chapter of our actions will make this alliance stronger adapted to the present and future challenges.</span></span><br>

<span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Az amerikai geopolitikai gondolkodás egyik legnagyobb alakja, Zbigniew Brzezinski 2017. május 26-án eltávozott közülünk. Az Antall József Tudásközpont az alábbi bejegyzéssel emlékezik egy olyan emberre, aki amellett, hogy megváltoztatta politikai gondolkodásunkat, sokat tett a Szovjet Birodalom felszámolásáért, majd ezt követően is páratlanul értékes tanácsokkal szolgált azoknak a döntéshozóknak, akik kíváncsiak voltak a véleményére. Zbigniew Brzezinski a Tudásközpont tiszteletbeli elnökségének a tagja volt.<br>

Nemcsak a Fehér Ház politikai stratégiája alakult át, hanem a Kremllel és a szuperhatalmak közötti viszonnyal kapcsolatos amerikai felfogás is alapjaiban megváltozott.<br>

A könyv szerzője meggyőzően érvel amellett, hogy a hidegháború lezárásához vezető folyamatnak ez volt az első lépése, és izgalmasan mutatja be, hogy ebben a nagy horderejű fordulatban mekkora szerepe volt Ronald Reagan világképének, és hogy szemléletére milyen politikai események és egyéb tényezők gyakoroltak befolyást ebben az időszakban.<br>
